Composer/trumpeter Samantha Boshnack has been creating music of her own and performing with a plethora of musicians and groups in Seattle since 2003. The Bard College graduate uses a broad palette in her compositions, including jazz, rock, hip-hop, Balkan, and contemporary classical music influences. Her work has received acclaim from music critics from around the world, and she has received support from 4Culture, Jack Straw Productions, ASCAPlus, and the Seattle Mayor's Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
Boshnack's music has been performed in a variety of venues from rock clubs, to concert halls, to school auditoriums, and she has extensively toured the U.S. She is a trumpet player in high demand in a wide variety of genres including salsa/son, jazz/free jazz, rock and Klezmer.
In addition to conventional trumpet, Boshnack also plays flugelhorn, piccolo and slide trumpet. She has performed and recorded with Paul Rucker, Wayne Horvitz, The Dead Science, Eyvind Kang, Hans Teuber, Tom Varner, Lori Goldston, Mark Oi, Tobi Stone, and Evan Flory-Barnes, among others. Current projects include Reptet, Picoso, Orkestar Zirkonium, Publish the Quest, the Monktail Creative Music Concern, and Threat of Beauty. Boshnack is also a music educator and is currently teaching trumpet and piano at many schools in the Seattle area.
