June 2008
06/03 - Figeater / Fandrich New Moon Salon / 8 pm / 1513 14th Avenue / www.myspace.com/figeaterparty
Disjunctive, raucous, soaring, and powerful - Figeater is an all improvised, textural, tribal exploration of organic movement. Improvisations are punctuated, buttoned, and launched by original compositions and songlike psychedelic episodes. Described in Earshot Jazz as "a hypnotic trio of scratchy, electronics-warped guitar, drums and Beth...whirling and weird, and quite enjoyable," Figeater includes sonic spelunkers Beth Fleenor (clarinet / bass clarinet / beth boxing), Mike Hams (percussion), and Jeff Huston (guitar / electronics).
06/15- Stephen Fandrich and Sean Owen - A Shared Recital / Town Hall / 1119 8th Avenue / Tickets: $20 general, $15 students & seniors / www.soundsoutside.com
Featuring music from the Vihuelistas of the Spanish Renaissance, Yucho, Scriabin, Chopin, Frank Zappa, and Mark Ostrowski. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Sounds Outside (see below).
